Voltage & compatibility
What is the difference between 110V and 220V?
110V (and 120V) is the low-voltage standard used mainly in the Americas and some of Asia. 220–240V is the high-voltage standard used in most of Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. Devices designed for one range may need a voltage converter for the other.
Is my device dual voltage?
Check the power supply label for "INPUT: 100-240V" or similar. If you see 100–240V, your device is dual voltage and only needs a plug adapter, not a voltage converter.
Adapter vs converter?
An adapter changes the plug shape only. A converter changes the voltage. Most travelers with laptops and phones only need an adapter; high-wattage appliances may need a converter or local purchase.
